Wendy Saunders, MA, LPCC

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor

DBT-LBC, Certified Clinician™

I have extensive experience treating severe mental illness as well as helping people make peace with life's challenges. I love to continually learn and grow as a therapist and keep up with the latest research. I look forward to sharing helpful articles, books and workshop experiences with you, as well as learning from your experience and wisdom. I am always open to new ideas and approaches and will never get stuck doing the same old thing when something more effective has come along.  I recently participated in an intensive training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, a profoundly healing therapy for couples.  In 2019, I completed a Trauma Response Care Certification Series with the Tristate Trauma Network.  In July, 2019, I participated in a 5 day trauma workshop with Janina Fisher, author of Healing the Fragmented Selves of Trauma Survivors.

Some of the issues I treat are:

Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality, Coping skills, Depression, Family Conflict, Life Transitions, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Parenting, Relationships, Self-Harm, Sexual Identity, Sleep, Spirituality, Suicidal Ideation and Trauma.

A number of years ago, I listened to my inner voice and made a heartfelt transition from a successful career as a portrait photographer to one as a mental health counselor. While I was creating photographic images of the external person, I endeavored to capture the essence of the inner person. As a mental health counselor, I can now focus more deeply on the inner person. I would like to help you listen to your inner voice so that you can create your life of fulfillment and inner peace.

My work with DBT has led me into an in depth exploration of neuroscience based mind-body treatments for trauma that help clients connect to their disowned inner selves with compassion, curiosity and non-judgment.
